Click here for latest satellite animationHigh pressure is now in place along the west coast. The forecast upper air map below for this evening shows the weather pattern we will have through Saturday. Northern California will have mostly clear skies with afternoon temperatures today in the mid to upper 70s in the northern Sacramento Valley. Warmer weather is expected Thursday and Friday with some areas in the north end of the valley hitting the 80 degree mark while the foothills and mountains will reach the mid 60s and lower 70s. North to northeast winds will kick up this morning and Thursday morning in the north valley with gusts to 20 to 25 mph. This winds will become light in the afternoon.
Temperatures will cool slightly Saturday. The forecast upper air map for Sunday, attached below, shows a weak low pressure trough moving over the top of the ridge. This system will be similar to yesterday's and will bring a few clouds to the north end of the state and maybe a shower on the north coast. However, temperatures Sunday over the interior of northern California will still be running 4 to 8 degrees above normal. After this system passes the high pressure ridge will rebuild along the coast and longer range forecast models show continued dry weather next week.
