On September 8th, 2017, at around 12:37 p.m., officers from the Redding Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Dollar General in the 1300 block of Lake Boulevard. The suspect had fled prior to officer’s arrival. An extensive search was conducted using ground and air units; however the suspect was not located.
On September 10th, 2017, Redding Police Officer Chad Gross, contacted a subject who matched the description of the suspect from the Dollar General robbery. The subject was identified as Britton Michael Michener, (33 years) of Redding. Michener had outstanding warrants for his arrest and was booked into Shasta County Jail on the warrants.
Cpl. Brian Cole continued to investigate the robbery and was able to find evidence linking Michener to the robbery. Cpl. Cole, along with Inv. Brian Torum, of the Redding Police Department worked together to continue the investigation.
On September 11, 2017, Inv. Torum, was able to collect enough evidence linking Michener to the robbery. The firearm was not located. Michener was booked into the Shasta County Jail for the robbery to the Dollar General.
