Robert’s Reviews: A Ghost Story

Hello Clever People! Welcome to my and my friend Connor’s joined review on the greatest film released this year, A Ghost Story. This film follows C (Casey Affleck) who, after dying from a terrible car crash, comes back to life in your traditional bedsheet ghost and views his wife M (Rooney Mara) live without him while also experiencing many other people go through daily life and how the passage of time affects the human condition. I haven’t heard of this movie.  But you’ve got me intrigued.

Glad I could do that, definitely check it out if you have a chance.

To comment on your comment on my Dunkirk review (you wrote a lot and I didn’t want it to go ignored), I can understand a lot of your points, and I really don’t think you’re missing anything. The film is extremely subjective and can only be viewed from your own perspective. If it didn’t work for you because of a lack of emotional connection, then that’s just how you view it. For me, the way the film morphed into such an intense and gripping experience was enough for me to give it a 9 and call it one of ny favorites this year. It’s a unique film focused purely on harsh realism, and for that, I love it.

After that review, I too am intrigued to see this movie. I also, had not heard of it before. Often times when movies are made about death they do follow the supernatural route, so, it would be nice to watch one that is probably based on a more realistic view of death and afterlife. I look forward to seeing this movie – thank you for the excellent review Robert and Connor!

Glad I could get you interested in such an incredible film! It’s very different from your typical sci-fi afterlife film, and while it may not be more realistic, it’s definitely far more grounded and emotional.

Love to watch your reviews Robert and Connor..and I learn so much. I too had not heard of this movie, but have just put it in my queue on Netflix since it is not playing now at the local theaters. I googled the dvd release date and it is October 3, 2017.

My favorite this year is “Baby Driver” and a close second is “The Big Sick.”  I believe you and Connor have put “A Ghost Story” a point above these two movies, so I am really anxious to watch and compare it for myself. Just can’t imagine anything could be better than “Baby Driver.” The music, acting, story, heartfelt at times was so GREAT!!!

Thanks again for your reviews..I look forward to them on Saturdays.

Thank you! Baby Driver is definitely a terrific movie, and I love The Big Sick, but A Ghost Story hit me on such an emotional level I had to put it above them. It’s an extremely different movie from those two, so I’d beninterested to here what your thoughts are after you see it.
