Suspect Photos from Burglary on Riverside Drive

On 7/10/2017 at about 11:11 a.m., the Redding Police Department responded to a report of an audible residential burglary alarm in the 7000 block of Riverside Dr. The home owner, who was out of town, also called reporting he’d observed an unknown white male adult inside his residence via his video surveillance system. Upon their arrival, officers weren’t able to locate the suspect. The suspect was last observed in the driveway of the residence on the victim’s video surveillance system. The victim reported a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun was among the items stolen from his residence.

Officers spoke to an alert neighbor, who reported observing a suspicious vehicle backed up near the area of the residence which had been broken into. The neighbor was able to obtain a photograph of the vehicle. The vehicle was a 2012 black 4 door Chevy Cruz with CA license plate 6VNJ073. It was learned this vehicle had been reported stolen on 7/9/2017 from the 1500 block of Trumpet Dr. The owner of the stolen vehicle reported the vehicle had been stolen sometime between 7/6/2016 and 7/9/2017 while she was out of town. The owner also reported her residence had been burglarized and a shotgun and a rifle were among the items stolen from her residence.

    Shotgun, rifle, and Sig Sauer 9mm handgun now in the hands of non-law abiding citizens. Please folks, secure your weapons.

      What makes you think they weren’t?  Or that additional securement would do any good?

       

      The safest place for that Sig was on the owner…
