I liked your review, Robert.  I haven’t seen The Godfather since it came out, if you can believe that.  I remember thinking it was one of the most powerful movies I’d seen.  I thought I’d recently recorded The Godfather and The Godfather II.  But The Godfather only recorded the last 64 minutes.  Bummer.  So now I need to catch it when it’s on TV again before I watch The Godfather II.  You’ve got me more excited about seeing The Godfather again.  I seem to remember it was much better than The Godfather II.  I’m curious what you think about The Godfather II.

Thanks Steve! Shame about the recording incident. While I agree with you on saying that The Godfather Part I is better than Part II, I don’t think there is too wide of a margin there. Here is my review for the sequel: https://letterboxd.com/colossusblock/film/the-godfather-part-ii/

thank you, again, for your articulate and thoughtful take on a movie. It’s been years since I saw it . . . maybe I need to go back and tank another look.

While Godfather 1 is considered one of the best movies ever made Godfather 2 is regarded as one of the best sequels ever made, though it could share that pedestal with The Wrath Of Khan.  Godfather 3 sucked.

Part II is definitely one of the best sequels out there. Some of the great examples are The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers/Return of the King, The Empire Strikes Back, Aparajito/Apur Sansar, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, just to name a few.
