Viva Downtown Redding and Wildcard Brewing Company are excited to announce that the fourth annual “Hops and Shops” indoor Brewfest has been scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 2 – 6 p.m and will be held in various shops throughout the Downtown Redding Promenade again this year. Tickets go on sale on February 1st at both Wildcard Brewing Co. locations.

All proceeds from this event benefit Viva Downtown Redding; a volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to enhancing the cultural, social and economic development of Downtown Redding. They bring life to the heart of Redding through innovative projects, programs and partnerships. The goal of this festival is to highlight the many outstanding local businesses in downtown Redding by partnering up with craft breweries within our region and featuring their ales inside various local downtown establishments, all within walking distance.

Participants will receive a tasting glass, reusable Hops and Shops shopping bag, and walking map of participating businesses downtown, where beer will be poured by someone from the brewery. Tickets will be on sale February 1st at both Wildcard Brewing Co. locations. Visit the brewery located at 9565 Crossroads Dr. or the downtown Tied House, located at 1321 Butte Street to perchance tickets starting February 1st. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the event. Early purchase is encouraged as the event has sold out in previous years.

Event registration will be held at two sites again this year: the Atrium, located at the south end of the promenade, and Shasta County Arts Council, located at Old City Hall on Market Street. Registration will start at 1:30 p.m. the day of the event.

Why do Redding organizations insist on charging for these types of events?  You’d get higher participation and a more vibrant scene if you copied existing successful models that do not require tickets.  And guess what, you’d also net more $$!
