Supervising offenders in the community and preparing offenders for return to their communities are critical to protecting public safety. Correctional Officers must balance the time required to manage growing caseloads and their desire to provide offenders with the services they need to become law abiding citizens.
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed Proclamation 5187, creating “National Correctional Officers Week” which commemorates the contributions of Correctional Officers and personnel who work in jails, prisons, and community corrections across the county.
I am very proud of our Correctional Deputies at the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. Every hour of every day they are dedicated to managing the demanding and complex facets of watching over the inmates while ensuring safety is a priority. In these times of Prison Realignment, this job has become more and more challenging.
My sincere thanks and admiration go to each and every one of our Correctional Officers. They serve the Sheriff’s Office and the Shasta County Jail with pride and excellence. I am proud of the job that they do. – Tom Bosenko, Shasta County Sheriff
