Arrest Made in Cottonwood Molest Case

On July 29th, 2014, at about 1014 hours, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the continuous molest of a minor child. The victim was identified as a sixteen (16) year old female; however, according to the reporting party the sexual abuse had been ongoing since the victim was twelve (12) years old.

The following day, Detective Edwards interviewed the victim. The victim disclosed the ongoing sexual abuse, which amounted to significant allegations against her stepfather, 40 year old Gordon Grissom of Cottonwood, California. Evidence was obtained which corroborated the victim’s allegation of misconduct. On July 31, 2014, Detectives Edwards and Randall contacted Grissom and he was
interviewed regarding the allegation(s). Grissom admitted to having an ongoing sexual relationship with the victim. He also admitted during his interview it was probable that he was the father of the victim’s 11 month old child. Grissom was arrested for numerous sexual offenses and is currently incarcerated at the Shasta County Jail where he is being held pending court proceedings.
