  1. Sounds interesting. Will try it soon. Looks busy (as all new businesses do), will see if it continues.

  2. JOE RIDES AGAIN!!!! Pretty soon were going to have to change the name of Hilltop to Joe Wong Way. . . . . if that were to happen, I guess no matter which direction you drove you would be going the Wong Way. (cue moans and groans)

  3. I had lunch there the other day. Decor wise, it seemed to be a "Mexican" version of Mr. Wong's View 202. Yeah, I'm not really sure what that means either.

I had the pork enchiladas, which came with two sides, beans and rice. The beans were too runny and the rice was dry (and green?) They served 3 relatively small enchiladas with just a spray of sauce across the middle. I was worried that they would be dry, but was pleasantly surprised at how moist and flavorful they were. Next time they can keep the sides and just place a few more enchiladas on my plate.

My business partner ordered the salad and a cup of soup. She got a bowl of soup and the wrong salad, but she said both were good. The waitress reduced the soup to “cup” prices. Speaking of prices, they seem awful proud of the “inventive” Mexican food. If you’re expecting “normal” Mexican restaurant pricing, you’re going to be disappointed.

I need to go back for dinner with my better half and I’ll let you know how we fare.

  4. I will give them a pass, because they are so new - but the food was not good, at all. Hopefully they can improve it soon.

  5. Personally I'm glad Joe is venturing out and away from the corporate chains. It's risky but that's where you find the best food. Good luck Joe.

  6. Place was beautifully decorated. I wish I could say anything good about the food. We ordered queso fundito for appitizers and yuck it was velveta with some dryed out chorizo on top. The waitress was more than attentive , she was at our table at least 20 times in the hour we were there. When the bill arrived it was 63 bucks for the two of us. I give Joe Wong another 6 months max!! It was the worst restaurant experience we've had since moving to Redding 3 years ago.

  7. Gave them another week and a half. Food was still really bad. They either just do not get it, or have been told by someone to not do anything different from when they first opened. Probably will get some business from the hotels and out of towners - but I doubt many locals will keep going back.

  8. Looks really nice! If Joe is doing it the place will be a hit!

    Upscale Mexican hits Redding....

Let me get my Sombrero out now....

  9. I am sure this post has touched all the internet

users, its really really good article on building up new
