On a seemingly normal day in February 2012, Marcella Wagner’s life changed forever. On her way to school, she was run off the road. Her car flipped multiple times. Nine months pregnant, she was air-lifted to Mercy Medical Center where her son Logan was born early, but healthy. Marcella, however, is now quadriplegic and desperately needs a home that can accommodate the family of a new mother confined to a wheelchair.
Help us raise money to complete the retrofitting of their house for wheelchair accessibility. Join us at the Old City Hall in Downtown Redding on Saturday, February 2nd, and enjoy an evening filled with the beautiful sounds of The Rita Hosking Trio, The Jim Dyar Band, and Aamir Malik. 100% of the proceeds will go to Marcella Wagner & Dave Campbell.
Tickets for the show are $25. They can be purchased on-line at The Shasta Arts Council, or at the door, cash only. Doors open at 5:30pm, and the show starts at 6:30pm. This is an all ages show.
On the evening of the show, pizza from local brick-oven pizza makers, Cinders Pizza, and frozen yogurt from The Social will be available for purchase, as will beer, wine and other beverages. A raffe for various items donated by generous community members will be part of the evening’s excitement too. Please bring cash.

“In scorching form” (UK Telegraph), Northern California’s own Rita Hosking sings of forest fires, culture clash, demolition derbies, the working class and hope. From major CA music festivals to Bob Harris’s BBC show, Rita is moving audiences around the globe with her stories in song and doubly sweet and sinewy voice, “a captivating performer,” (R2 Magazine.)
Rita’s style of country-folk has been lauded for story and sense of place, and her performances praised for capturing the audience.
Honors include winner of the ’08 Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest at the Sisters Folk Festival, finalist in the ’09 Telluride Troubadour Contest, and more. “This California girl comes by her mountain- music sensibility with true authenticity, with original songs deeply rooted in her family’s frontier experience,” (Dan Ruby, FestivalPreview.com) and Rita’s fans call her “the real deal.” A descendant of Cornish miners who sang in the mines, Rita grew up with deep regard for folk music and the power of the voice. www.ritahosking.com
The Redding-based Jim Dyar Band blends diverse roots stylings from far Northern California. The band formed in 2007 and the current lineup includes: Jim Dyar (vocals, guitar), Torri Pratt (vocals, percussion), Morgan Hannaford (bass/guitars/mandolin), Tracy Manuel (drums) and Rick Larsen (keyboards). The band released its debut album, “Magical Land,” in 2009, featuring such live show staples as “Hold On,” “Ridgeview,” “Ragged Edge” and the title track. In 2011, the current JDB lineup joined Redding musicians Paul Calkins and Clay Harvey to form Muletown, a neo-bluegrass acoustic ensemble which released the album “Muletown” and toured throughout Northern California and Oregon.
The JDB and Muletown have shared the stage at festivals and concerts with such artists as Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, James McMurtry, Blame Sally, Tom Rigney and Flambeau, Blaw Blaw Woof Woof, Incendio and many others. Jim has collaborated with members of Merle Haggard’s Strangers and has a songwriting credit on the Haggard tune “Christmas in Cabo San Lucas.” The band continues to perform live throughout the region and Jim has written a new collection of songs which he hopes to release in the coming year. www.jimdyarband.com
A lifelong “closet musician”, Aamir’s written many a song while floating through a number of cities and a number of careers, including opening Redding’s first Indian restaurant in 1993, before settling in Chico five years ago. This year marks his third year of public performance. He now performs music often and writes for a weekly magazine, while pining for his children who grew up and spread out much too quickly. In 2011 he was featured on a cd by the Chico State music program and in 2012 co-wrote and co-starred in the Blue Room Theatre’s Christmas Show.
