Watch For Think Pink Scams

Local area residents reported receiving persistent phone calls purportedly from “Think Pink” asking for donations.

Nor-Cal Think Pink is the organization that will hand out 40,000 breast cancer awareness bags on Think Pink Day, October 18, 2012, and it is not soliciting donation requests through phone campaigns.

“People who want their donations to stay local should verify the organization that is calling before sending any funds,” said Pamala Valentine, President of Nor-Cal Think Pink.

Nor-Cal Think Pink became aware of the calls through emails from concerned residents, who said the phone calls clearly identified “Think Pink” as being a local organization.  The residents said the calls are persistent, multiple times a day and are coming from a phone number outside the area with Think Pink as the name on the Caller ID.

The Redding Police Department has been notified of possible fraudulent activity.  Any resident who received a phone solicitation and made a donation believing it was being made to Nor-Cal Think Pink should call RPD and reference case number 12-71041.

For residents who do wish to make donations to Nor-Cal Think Pink, the following locations are accepting donations:  The Think Pink Store at Tri Counties Bank on Hilltop Drive, all North Valley Bank locations, and MD Imaging or by mailing a donation to Nor-Cal Think Pink, PO Box 492191, Redding, CA 96049.  No other post office boxes are associated with Nor-Cal Think Pink.

Nor-Cal Think Pink is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which serves North State communities in Shasta, Trinity, Tehama, Siskiyou and Modoc Counties.
