Legendary Band Styx To Rock The Cascade Theatre

Jefferson Public Radio and the Cascade Theatre will present legendary rock band Styx in concert at the historic Cascade Theatre at 7:30pm Tuesday, September 11th, 2012.

Spawned from a suburban Chicago basement, Styx started out in the progressive rock movement of the early ‘70s and became one of the superstar arena rock bands of the late ’70s and early ’80s. Known for their soaring power ballads, Styx became a mainstay on the pop music charts releasing four consecutive triple-platinum albums with songs like Come Sail Away, Lady, Show Me The Way, Too Much Time On My Hands and Renegade. Styx continues to tour the world delighting its legions of fans and introducing new generations to the elaborate arrangements and soaring vocal harmonies that made it one of the most popular rock bands of its time.

The performance will be a homecoming of sorts for the band’s bassist, Ricky Phillips. Phillips grew up in Redding from the age of 5, graduating from Shasta High School in 1970. He went on to play in several well known rock bands, including Bad English and The Babys, before joining forces with Styx in 2003.

Tickets range from $65 – $85, and are available at the Cascade Theatre Box Office at 1733 Market Street, by phone at (530) 243-8877 or directly through the Cascade Theatre website at www.cascadetheatre.org. The 2012-13 Cascade Theatre/Jefferson Public Radio Performance Series is generously sponsored by US Bank.
