5 Windows Gallery Celebrates opening of this month’s exhibit “Contemporaries”

On Saturday, April 7, 2012, 5 Windows Gallery will celebrate the opening of this month’s featured exhibit, “Contemporaries” which focuses on the adventurous contemporary works being created by an eclectic selection of regional artists.

Contemporary art is art that arises from our times and is occurring now. It is work that belongs and responds to our current collective experiences. It is modern. It is current. It creates new trends. It is avant garde. It departs from – yet still draws upon the ideas, methods, and traditions of our artistic ancestors. It invites its viewers to engage with the work and to see the world around them in new ways.

“Contemporaries” are persons of the present age, working independently and concurrently.  They are artists who are working with the now – describing our times – and the artists selected by 5 Windows Gallery for this month’s group exhibit are doing just that. Nikolas Allen, Jeffrey DeVore, Cherie Hacker, Robert Soffian and Brenda Woods are contemporary artists working and living in Northern California. While their styles, sensibilities and processes differ, there is a similar daring and excitement that runs through all of their cutting-edge works.

Visitors to 5 Windows Gallery will get to explore a collection of masterful figurative drawings, Pop-inspired works that explore the bounds of 2D and 3D, large-scale surrealist and expressionistic paintings that address urban life, wildlife, and delve into pure abstractions of the painters’ imaginations. The artworks will ask questions, perhaps raise eyebrows. They will be thought and conversation provoking. Don’t miss the opening for the chance to meet and find out more about the artists and their work.

View “Contemporaries” Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5 pm, and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., through May 1st.  5 Windows Gallery is located at the corner of State Highways 3 and 299, 575-B Main Street, Weaverville, California.  For more information contact:  5windowsgallery@dcacable.net, or call the gallery at (530) 623-5562.
