Redding Police Catch Alleged Burglar in Act

Nichlous Peternik

On August 8, 2011 at 11:18 p.m., officers from Redding Police Department responded to 1100 block of Gold Street for a burglary alarm. The alarm company advised there were several areas of activation inside the residence.

Officers arrived and located Nick Peternik, 27 years of Redding, inside the residence. Peternik was gathering items and appeared to be burglarizing the residence. The owner of the residence arrived and told officers no one was supposed to be inside. Officers attempted to contact Peternik, but he would not comply with orders to come out the residence. Peternik was safely taken into custody with the assistance of K-9 Vermut.

Peternik was taken to Shasta Regional Medical Center for medical clearance for the dog bite. He was later booked at the Shasta County Jail for burglary.
