Redding Woman, 88, Dies After Cadillac Collides With Tree

On Friday, July 8 2011 at approximately 6:39 PM officers from the Redding Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. a tree at the gated community of Shasta Hills Estates on Churn Creek Road in the City of Redding.

Investigation of the collision revealed that Evelyn Demarco, 88 of Redding was driving a 1997 Cadillac Deville on the private roadway Golden Gate Trail within Shasta Hills Estates. Mrs. Demarco lost control of her vehicle, drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Mrs. Demarco was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries during the collision. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision at this time. The cause of this collision is still under investigation.
