Weather Discussion:
Monday (April 11) a very weak storm system will move through Redding with a few clouds and maybe a light shower. Tuesday (April 12) will be sunny with a few clouds and daytime temperatures in the upper 60s. Wednesday (April 13) through Sunday(April 17) we are caught between a strong low pressure area in the Gulf of Alaska that is generating storms and sending them eastward toward the west coast and high pressure ridge that is along the Southern California coast and trying to push northward.
Wednesday another weak storm will move through with a few clouds and maybe a light shower. Thursday the high pressure ridge pushes a little more northward. Thursday through Sunday we should have mostly sunny skies with a few clouds as storms pass by to north. Maximum temperatures will be in the 70s. Looks like nice weather for Kool April Nights.
Extended Weather Outlook April 18 – April 24
The high pressure ridge should remain along the coast. This means mostly sunny skies with daytime temperatures in the mid 70s to lower 80s. Temperatures will start to cool on the 24th as the ridge weakens.

Chris Fontana, a.k.a. The Old Forecaster, started his career as a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento. After four years as a weather officer in the USAF he transferred to the NWS office in Redding. He was the meteorologist in charge of the Redding office from 1976 until it closed in 1996. From 1996 until his retirement in 2005, he was the meteorologist in charge of the USFS Predictive Service Unit. Chris and his wife Jane have been married over 40 years and he works as a window covering installer in her business, Westwood Window Coverings.
