Weather Discussion: It looks like March will go out like a lamb and we will finally get some spring-like weather. Monday will be sunny with a few clouds and temperatures in the low- to mid-60s. There will be a few more clouds Tuesday from the trailing end of a storm that is moving into the Pacific Northwest. High pressure will be along the west coast Wednesday through Friday and we will have sunny skies and above-normal temperatures, with Redding in the upper 70s Thursday and Friday.
Late Friday, a fast-moving, spring-type storm will climb over the top of the offshore, high-pressure area and then drop southeastward into the Great Basin. This system will bring a few clouds to the area with a chance of isolated thunderstorms in the mountains. Temperatures will cool back to normal or a little below for this time of year. This will be a spring type storm — not a lot of precipitation, but gusty southwest winds ahead of it and gusty north winds behind it. The gusty north winds will persist from Saturday through early Monday.

We should be mostly sunny throughout this period, with above-normal temperatures. This means Redding will be in the 70s. Gusty north winds will be ending on the 3rd.

After four years as a weather officer in the USAF he transferred to the NWS office in Redding. He was the meteorologist in charge of the Redding office from 1976 until it closed in 1996. From 1996 until his retirement in 2005, he was the meteorologist in charge of the USFS Predictive Service Unit.
