The holiday season can be a particularly difficult time for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. To honor and celebrate the lives of those who have passed, the public is invited to join Mercy Medical Center Redding (MMCR) Hospice staff and volunteers for the annual Light up a Life celebration on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. in MMCR lower level auditoriums.

This year’s theme is “Continuing the Journey of Healing and Hope” and the celebration will begin with the lighting of the Tree of Life. Each light on the tree will honor the departed. The afternoon will also include music, prayer and readings. Refreshments will be served.

The Tree of Life will remain in MMCR’s lobby throughout the holiday season. The names of those being remembered will be posted near the tree. People wishing to remember a loved one with a light on the tree are encourage to call Mercy’s Hospice Manager Emily Sawyer at 530-245-4070
