muletown

Muletown is an “unplugged,” contemporary stringband configuration of The Jim Dyar Band style Americana. The core of the band is Morgan Hannaford on Mandolin, Paul Calkins on banjo, Jim Dyar and Torri Pratt on guitar. Thursday the band will be joined by Tom Spence on a big ol’ bass.

Mixed Media Work by Kim Piazza

Kimberly Piazza’s paintings propose fantastic methods for recycling tires. She writes: “What are we going to do with all the old tires? One of the luxuries I enjoy as a painter is that my proposed solutions don’t have to be proven scientifically or be mechanically viable.” Kimberly Piazza’s work is a meditative look at humankind’s impact on the natural environment.

The oil paintings of Kimberly Piazza are rooted in the industryscape of her youth along the shores of the Detroit River and Lake Erie . The inner worlds of factories, the one-way windows with bars, the pipes and tunnels, gears and screws are forms she consistently uses to create her work. She recycles the materials used to create her art, and re-uses the photographic abstractions that she takes during her visits to junkyards.
