Northern California’s Lassen Volcanic National Park is offering ranger-led snowshoe walks through April 4.

The free walks (a $1 donation is suggested for snowshoe use and maintenance) will be held every Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The 1½- to two-hour excursions are open to those age 8 and older. Snowshoes are provided, and rangers instruct participants on snowshoeing techniques, winter mountain travel safety and outdoor survival tips. They advise that attendees wear warm boots and dress in layers for winter conditions — and be prepared to spend the night in your vehicle, if necessary, as weather can change quickly.
