In the time-honored* tradition** of media hacks*** everywhere, I accepted an invitation to preview an exciting event**** today.

Turtle Bay Exploration Park¹ is raising awareness² for its programs and operations by hosting its annual raffle — this year, green transportation.

The prizes are  a 2009 Toyota Prius donated by Lithia Motors of Redding^†, a Zapino electric scooter donated by ReddingZap.com^††, and a Trek “Allant” Urban Commuter Bicycle donated by The Bike Shop^††† of Redding.

Notice a theme?  All those vehicles reduce our use of fossil fuels, of course, which is funny considering the giant fossil fuel Tyrannosauras Rex popping out of Turtle Bay’s ceiling right this minute.

Anyway, when Turtle Bay asked us to come test-drive these groovy rides, I said, “Sure,” because we here at anewscafe.com are all about what’s going on around town, and helping a good cause, not to mention which I’m just not a “No” kind of gal.³  

That’s what I’m doing this sunny afternoon⁴… helping Turtle Bay flog this raffle promote this community fund-raising opportunity. I’m comfortable with that. I’ll let you know how the experience⁵ turned out a little later.
