New Alps Repertory Theatre Opens Inaugural Season
The brand new Alps Repertory Theatre made its grand debut in Weaverville over the Independence Day weekend.
ART is presenting its first season in association with the Trinity Players and the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center.
Director Ken Hill started with the Schmidt and Jones musical “I Do! I Do!,” starring Kathy and Mike Martens (American Academy of Dramatic Art, “Ruthless”), and will continue with the Neil Simon comedy “The Star Spangled Girl,” starring Shaun Couch, Tim Martens and Bethany Hill, and concludes with a children’s workshop production of “The Wizard of Oz.”
For this first season, Hill is directing the mainstage shows and is being helped with producer duties by Kathy Martens and Ann Hill. Diana Losk, member of Actor’s Equity and a former Broadway dancer and choreographer, is choreographing “I Do! I Do!” Set designs are by Paul “Skip” Sharp, and lighting design is by Angela Knickerson-Green.
The season is being made possible by the sponsorship and support of many organizations, business and private individuals, including the Trinity Players, the Redding Rancheria Community Fund, Umpqua Bank, the Shasta College Foundation, the Trinity County Realtors Association, the Smart Center and other civic organizations.
