And the latest hopeful for Redding City Council is…

Community advocate and businesswoman Victoria “Missy” McArthur today took out paperwork indicating interest in running for the Redding City Council race in November.

“I have a lifelong involvement in the community, and I’d like to be able to contribute to its continued growth and prosperity,” she said.

McArthur has served on numerous boards and committees over the past three decades. She currently sits on the Shasta Library Advisory Board and is a member of the board of trustees for Shasta College.

That brings to nine the number of people interested in the two seats, as of this afternoon.

Four have officially filed to run: incumbent Dick Dickerson, James McDilda, Gary Cadd and John E. Wood.

Others who’ve taken out papers but not filed are McArthur, Jim Koenigsaecker, Terry Oxley, Russell Hunt and incumbent Ken Murray.

The hopefuls have until 5 p.m. Friday to file nomination papers.
